The National youth circuit race championships took place in Lister Park, Bradford in 2011. This is a nice park which I last visited when the Tour of Britain finished a stage there in 2007. Yorkshire region always seem to promote their races to the highest standard and this event was no exception. Superb co-operation from British Cycling, the city council and sponsors meant that not only did the meeting go off superbly well, but it looked good.
Standing by to start one of the races (below) are Mandy Bishop who, as Mandy Jones, won the Women's World Road Championship in 1982, and with his back to the camera on the left, double Tour de France stage winner Brian Robinson.
All in all, a great day with some excellent racing from the youngsters. And for once, even the parents were well behaved. Well, almost. |
