The new photofinish laptops follow the new trend of not having a serial port.

The Lynx capture button needs a serial connection, so the only alternative is to use a serial/USB cable. However it wasn't possible to get a secure connection as both male and female parts come fitted with screws.

Bob came up with this modification (above) which involves the simple fitting of spacers and extra hexagonal nuts to allow one half to screw securely into the other. It's better than using tape which, in time, makes the plugs sticky. Of course, this modification will hopefully be a one-off, but it's worthy of mention here.
