St. Mary's Chambers, Rawtenstall

St Mary's Chambers, at the end of Haslingden Road in Rawtenstall started life in 1856 when it was known as Haslingden Road United Methodist Church.

In the 1930's Church attendences were falling, and this Church was no exception. After the second world war the premises, now no longer a Methodist Church, was used as a social centre by groups for the local elderly residents. However by the early 1990s its' condition had deteriorated so badly that it became unusable.

Bought by a local prperty development firm, the building has been extensively renovated with support from English Heritage and is now home to several businesses as well as being promoted as a conference and banqueting centre. It is a Grade II listed building and is a great example of Rossendale's history which has been preserved.
